Swearing In

I believe in the mission of the North Carolina judicial branch:

To protect and preserve the rights and liberties of all the people, as guaranteed by the Constitutions and laws of the United States and North Carolina, by providing a fair, independent and accessible forum for the just, timely and economical resolution of their legal affairs.

I believe a free and independent judiciary is essential to the proper administration of justice and  judges must be fair and impartial in applying and interpreting the laws;

I believe judges must possess in-depth experience and knowledge of diverse areas of law and demonstrate an accountable commitment to the efficient and accurate administration of justice;

I believe judicial independence and efficiency demands a life-long commitment to continuing education;

I believe in equal rights, justice, and opportunity for all, regardless of an individual’s race, creed, age, sex, or national origin.
